SUPPLEMENTS
“My nurse will be in to explain things to you and get you your supplements.”
“Supplements?”
He handed me a list of items with checks beside most of them and left the room in the same frantic manner that he had entered.
Wow! I sat there, stunned. I had been so hopeful that this was going to be my answer, my big puzzle master. It looked like I had traveled all this way just to see a crazy man.
It wasn’t long before the nurse brought me my big boxful. I had never even heard of most of these things.
My shoulders sagged, defeated. “Do your patients ever get well?” I asked hesitantly.
The nurse saw my look of disappointment. “Honey, I know this is very different for you, but what he does really helps people recover from some pretty awful stuff.”
I just sat there looking at her, weighing my options. I could just leave, run even. This seemed like such a scam. Spend a little bit of time with a patient and sell them hope wrapped up in a boxful of useless supplements.
On the other hand, methotrexate and prednisone. My pharmacy training allowed me to know the terrible long-term side effects of these drugs. I sat there and listened to what the nurse was telling me to do.
The instructions were overwhelming, and my head was spinning. Cara was in the waiting room when I showed her my vast box of supplements. She watched me with a look of pity as I paid my huge bill at the front desk.
When I started this journey I did not even think vitamins were necessary. It just makes sense that we should not need any supplements, but unfortunately our food supply is not as nutritious as it used to be and many people have digestive issues and are unable to fully extract the nutrients from the food.
I still take a wide variety of supplements mostly vitamins and minerals. I use high quality supplements with no added fillers. My supplements have changed through different phases of my healing journey and I’ll share some favorites. I am thinking about changing to food based supplement, but right now I use mostly Pure Encapsulations products.
I am listing below supplements that have helped me regain my health. I do not take them every day any more and I pick and choose when I do take them. I have a vision of not needing any supplements and getting everything I need from food, but I am not there yet.
There are many minerals from the list below and I also have a mineral kit from Mother Earth Minerals. This kit has all the minerals in it that my SCIO felt I was missing so I have most all the minerals on hand. I’ve got to keep my batteries charged!
- Nature’s Pearls- a muscadine grape seed extract containing resveratrol that got me off of Celebrex many years ago.
- Mastic Gum- The doctor from North Carolina put me on this to help with my digestive issues that I was sure I didn’t have. I don’t hear much about this supplement anymore and I would like to research it again. I have not taken this for many years.
- Probiotics-I have taken many through the years. Right now I am using Megasporbiotic, Sacromyces Boulardi and Probiotic GI
- Fish Oil or krill oil- make sure you use a very pure product. Fish oil can be loaded with heavy metals
- Magnesium Citrate- I still take 2 -150mg capsules of this every day. It makes my muscles less tight and is needed by the body for a variety of processes.
- One Multivitamin- This is a good general multivitamin.
- B6 Complex- This is a B supplement and I take this every day.
- B-12 spray- This is a food based spray and is such a treat to use. I use organic raspberry spray from Garden of Life. This is the methylated form of B12.
- UC-II Collagen
- Organic Activated Charcoal
- Curcumin
- Iodine
- Zinc
- Selenium
- Vitamin D3- I take 5000 U per day, which seems like a large dose to me. I just had my levels taken and they were perfect
- SynergyK- I also take this now every day and SCIO has finally stopped whining at me.
- Vitamins A ,D, E, K It seems my body often needs extra of these fat soluble vitamins according to SCIO. I am wondering if this has anything to do with my gall bladder being removed. I might not be able to excrete enough bile to help with the absorption of these vitamins. I have to supplement Vitamin A and Vitamin E often and I now take D and K daily. I am now back to taking Ox Bile every day to improve my fat digestion
- Vitamin C at least 2000mg per day much more if I feel like I am getting sick
- CoQ10- Ubiquinol-QH 100mg
- Restore
- Liposomal Glutathione
- Digestive Enzymes Ultra
- NAC 600mg
- Alpha Lipoic Acid
- Phosphatidyl Choline- Quicksilver liposomal
- Ox bile- I use the product from Seeking health
- Quercetin 500mg
- H2 Elite by Quicksilver Scientific
- Organic Acacia Gum
- Organic Psyllium Powder
- American Natural Super Collagen
I am experimenting with:
- PQQ
And next I will experiment with
- TUDCA
