MEDITATION

think deeply or focus one’s mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes or as a method of relaxation

“Your body is not getting enough rest and it needs to have quality sleep to heal. I’m going to make a meditation tape for you that will help. You need to learn how to relax your body; learn how to meditate and do it daily.”
She wasn’t through with me. “You also need to find an acupuncturist as soon as possible because that will help you heal and reduce the pain.”
I desperately wanted to believe there would be an end to this. “Will I ever get better?”
She reassured me, “Yes, and you will have a very interesting journey.”
This is what I hoped to hear, and I guessed I knew in my heart that I would be okay.

Good to her word, Pearl’s tape arrived in the mail a few days later and I listened to it immediately. It was a visual relaxation exercise for every part of the body, then continued with a visualization of me becoming a tree and gathering energy through my roots from the ground and using my leaves to gather energy from the sky. I didn’t procrastinate and immediately started trying to focus on the words in place of the pain.

I followed the tape a few times during the day and used it at night to help me sleep. Surprisingly, I dozed off for a short period. Each time I awoke, I would restart the tape. I continued this process each day and night, and eventually I was once again sleeping.

This was taken from my book and I quickly learned the power of meditation from this experience.

When I started doing this meditation tape I knew nothing about the documented medical effects of meditation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Research_on_meditation My practice has changed over the years, but I still frequently do the meditation tape that was made for me over 20 years ago.

When I started the meditation process I would force myself to focus on the words she was saying to keep my mind from wondering. With practice I was able to quiet my mind quickly and then I started traveling to other places. I realize this sound a bit odd and it doesn’t happen to me all the time, but when it does I am convinced God is.
Listed below are the many benefits of meditation:

  • DECREASED BLOOD PRESSURE
  • PAIN RELIEF
  • DECREASED ANXIETY
  • DECREASED DEPRESSION
  • DECREASED STRESS
  • IMPROVED SLEEP
  • DECREASED FATIGUE
  • INCREASED MEMORY
  • DECREASED HOT FLASHES

If this were a drug you would not be able to keep it on the shelves!!!! I encourage you all to take a few minutes a day for yourself to start this practice.
